Floral and scroll carving makes the scabbard of this compact, hand-forged Filipino Barong a feature in its own right. The pattern travels across the broad opening and along the curved wood body, giving the piece detail to appreciate even when sheathed.
A 12½-inch leaf-shaped blade is paired with a sculpted wood hilt, gold-colored fittings and dark cord wrapping. At 1.20 lb without the scabbard, this is a compact addition for a collector who values the woodwork as much as the blade. The carved front deserves to be seen alongside the steel.
Made using traditional forging methods in the southern Philippines, this full-tang Barong is rooted in the Moro blade traditions of Mindanao.
