A gold-colored medallion within a geometric carved frame is the focal point of this hand-forged Filipino Barong. The angular scabbard carving contrasts with the rounded leaf-shaped blade and the flowing shape of the wood hilt.
The blade measures 12¾ inches; the complete piece weighs 1.30 lb without its scabbard. Warm wood grain, dark cord bands and a shaped scabbard tip tie the details together. The decorated front makes the scabbard an important part of the display, not simply something to set aside.
Made using traditional forging methods in the southern Philippines, this full-tang piece carries the Moro blade traditions of Mindanao into a collection with a distinctive geometric accent.
