Ginunting — Hand-Forged Blade of the Southern Philippines

Rooted in the martial heritage of the Southern Philippines, the Ginunting is a blade defined by authority, balance, and intent. This piece is hand-forged by indigenous bladesmiths using time-honored methods, resulting in a weapon that reflects both cultural lineage and functional excellence.

The forward-curved blade is forged from leaf spring steel, a traditional material prized for its resilience and edge retention. Its profile favors controlled power and fluid transitions, making the Ginunting highly respected in Filipino martial arts for training, forms, and demonstrations. Each blade carries subtle variations, evidence of true hand craftsmanship rather than mass production.

The handle is carved from dark hardwood and shaped with a distinctive hooked pommel, providing secure indexing and retention during movement. A fitted metal guard protects the hand without disrupting balance. The wooden scabbard is contoured for a close fit, reinforced with cord bindings, and finished with a steel belt clip for practical carry.

Every Ginunting is a functional artifact, built with purpose, forged with discipline, and grounded in tradition. No two are exactly alike.
